For Immediate Release..........Jan. 19, 2000.......1/23/00.... The Center for The New Psychology Promises a Rocky Mountain High
There are a lot of new movements taking off this year and there is even one in the area of Psychology. The Center for the New Psychology wants to totally change the way psychology is practiced. If the Director, Dr. Doris Jeanette, a part time resident of Glenwood Springs, has her way, the entire field will be turned upside down from the days of Freud and his talk therapy. Gone will be the days of talking and in will be physical and emotional approaches that are specifically designed to change our maladaptive, learned responses into healthy responses. "These learned conditioned reponses block our energy flow and keep us stuck in habits and behaviors we don't want or need anymore," Dr. Jeanette explains, "This stagnate energy is what causes physical, emotional and mental diseases." Dr. Jeanette studied with Joe Wolpe, MD, father of Behavior Therapy, during her Post Doc. "Dr. Wolpe is the one who taught me the difference between fear and anxiety, which is important when freeing one's self from the chains of conditioning." Jeanette's 24 years of practice has resulted in a new approach that works simultaneously on the physical body and the emotions. "The result is a chance to feel that Rocky Mountain High often and even when you are someplace else!" The Center for the New Psychology's goals are to educate people so that they know that there are ways to break free from their past and to train people who know how to aid them in the process. Dr. Jeanette, with residences in both Philadelphia and Glenwood, will be giving a free talk on the New Psychology in Glenwood, Friday night Feb. 4th. at 7:30. She will be available for questions after the lecture. Call 970-945-1089 to register. Contact: Jenna Catherine at 970-945-1089
